Determination

I am amazed at how many people will spend thousands of dollars to travel the globe in search of things they have never seen before. They transfer their wealth to other countries or other states in search of  experiencing  something different. There is simply no need to search the far reaches of the planet when there are so many things to see right here in California. Millions of acres of majestic beauty await you, and all you require are a few tanks of gas, some camping gear, and a thimble full of determination.

At the campsite.

Time to chase the gold.

 Tracks in the fresh snow.

The trail.

Headed back to base camp.

Tried our hand at some glissading....super fun, and a much faster way down.

We earned a hearty dinner.

And defrosted by the fire. Then we slept for twelve hours straight.

The next morning.

There were no shortage of these.

The tug is the drug.

Learning to let go.

We packed up camp and headed out to another location before the storm that was to dump two feet of snow above 8k.
The Walker River.
The mountains behind the Twin Lakes in Bridgeport. I will be seeing those up close and personal next year...there is a lake there that is just screaming to be conquered, and yes, i will oblige.

A place where some of my fondest childhood memories were born, thanks Mom and Dad....I will never forget.

Off to some small streams.

Monster of a rainbow hanging out behind the rock.

Soda creek.

The Stani was off color from the storms up above.

Lots of fish usually hold in this pool....when you can see them.

We left the tall pines and the fresh air to return to the big city. You can escape reality briefly...but in the end you still must face the day.
